Sep 16, 2024, 12:54 PM
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree to increase the size of the Russian Armed Forces to 2,389,130 personnel, including 1.5 million active duty military servicemen. This marks an increase of 180,000 military personnel from the previous total of 1,320,000. The decree will come into effect on December 1, 2024. This is the third time since 2022 that Putin has expanded the military, with the last increase occurring in December 2023. The move is seen as an effort to bolster Russia's military capabilities amid ongoing conflicts, including the war in Ukraine.
