VisitPutin Open to Ukraine Ceasefire Talks with Trump, Rules Out Major Concessions
Nov 20, 2024, 08:27 AM
Russian President Vladimir Putin is open to discussing a Ukraine ceasefire deal with US President-elect Donald Trump, according to a Reuters report citing five sources with knowledge of Kremlin thinking. However, Putin rules out making any major territorial concessions and insists that Kyiv abandon its ambitions to join NATO. The Kremlin may agree to freeze hostilities along the current front lines and could consider withdrawing from relatively small territories it controls in the Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions. Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Putin is ready for talks on Ukraine, including with Trump, but stated that Russia does not wish to freeze the conflict and aims to achieve its objectives.
