On June 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement in Pyongyang. The agreement, which replaces the 1961 Treaty of Friendship and Mutual Assistance, includes a provision for mutual assistance in the event of aggression against either country. This pact, described as the strongest since the Cold War, aims to expand economic and military cooperation between Russia and North Korea, as both nations face escalating tensions with the West and seek to bolster their positions amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The deal was concluded after two hours of talks between the leaders.
