Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Masoud Pezeshkian on his election as the new president of Iran. Putin expressed hopes for continued and strengthened bilateral cooperation between Russia and Iran. Pezeshkian won the election with 53.6% of the 30.530 million votes cast in the runoff. Putin emphasized the friendly and good-neighborly nature of the countries' relations and their effective coordination on international issues. The congratulatory message was sent on Saturday morning. Saudi King and Crown Prince also congratulated the new Iranian president, according to Reuters.
