The first law bans the adoption of Russian children by citizens of countries where gender transition is legal, affecting at least 15 countries including Australia, Canada, and several in Europe. This move is part of Putin's broader push to protect traditional values against what he perceives as liberal Western ideologies. The second law prohibits the promotion of a 'childfree' lifestyle, imposing fines of up to $50,000 for legal entities promoting this ideology, with doubled fines for targeting minors.
