Jul 25, 2024, 10:55 AM
PsiQuantum, a Silicon Valley startup, has announced plans to build the first US-based utility-scale quantum computer in Chicago, Illinois. The project will be anchored at the new Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park, located at the former U.S. Steel South Works site on Chicago's South Side. This multibillion-dollar investment aims to reinvigorate a part of the city that has struggled for years to attract investment and jobs. The initiative is in partnership with Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot. The site will also include a Department of Defense agency. The quantum computer will be the nation's first commercially useful one.
