VisitPresident-elect Trump Asks Supreme Court to Block January 10 Sentencing in Stormy Daniels Case
Jan 8, 2025, 02:26 PM
President-elect Donald Trump has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to block his sentencing scheduled for January 10 in his New York hush money case involving adult film star Stormy Daniels. After New York courts refused to delay the proceedings, Trump's legal team filed an emergency petition seeking intervention. Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for Trump, stated, 'President Trump’s legal team filed an emergency petition with the United States Supreme Court, asking the Court to correct the unjust actions by New York courts and stop the unlawful sentencing in the Manhattan D.A.’s witch hunt.' The case involves convictions on 34 counts of falsifying business records related to payments made during the 2016 presidential campaign. Judge Juan Merchan is set to oversee the sentencing.
