A powerful earthquake, with magnitudes reported between 6.0 and 6.8, struck southern Cuba on November 10, 2024, at approximately 11:49 AM local time. The quake occurred off the island's southeast coast, near Guantánamo Bay, and tremors were felt across the region, including Santiago de Cuba, which is about 100 miles away, Jamaica, and parts of Florida. Seismographs in Central Florida, including near Disney, detected the tremor, with some residents reportedly feeling the shaking. No tsunami warnings were issued following the earthquake. Damage assessments are currently underway.
