A powerful earthquake measuring up to magnitude 7.1 struck Tibet near the border with Nepal on Tuesday morning, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). The quake occurred at approximately 9:05 a.m. local time, with the epicenter near Dingri County in Shigatse City, Tibet Autonomous Region, China, at a shallow depth of 10 km. The China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) reported the magnitude as 6.9, while the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) initially reported it as 6.4. Tremors were felt in Nepal's capital Kathmandu and in parts of India, including Bihar and West Bengal. There have been no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
