Nov 1, 2024, 09:11 AM
Poland has initiated the construction of defensive fortifications on its border with Russia and Belarus under the 'Eastern Shield' initiative. Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed that the project, which is a collaborative effort with Baltic partners, will include fortified barriers, forward bases, and logistical hubs. The Eastern Shield aims to bolster NATO's eastern borders and will span approximately 800 kilometers. The budget for this extensive defensive line is nearly $2.5 billion. The fortifications will include ditches, minefields, anti-tank barriers, and surveillance systems.
