VisitPixar to Lay Off 175 Employees, 14% of Workforce, on Tuesday Amid Disney's Cost-Cutting Measures
May 21, 2024, 05:08 PM
Pixar Animation Studios, a subsidiary of Disney, has announced the layoff of approximately 175 employees, representing 14% of its workforce, on Tuesday. This move is part of Disney's broader cost-cutting measures and marks the largest restructuring in Pixar's history. The long-expected layoffs are aimed at scaling back the development of original streaming series and refocusing on feature films. The Emeryville-based studio, known for iconic films such as Toy Story and Finding Nemo, will see its total headcount reduced from roughly 1,300 to 1,125 employees. Notably, the top leadership at Pixar will not be impacted by these layoffs. This is the second round of cuts in the last year.
