VisitPhilippine Authorities Capture Apollo Quiboloy in Davao City, FBI’s 'Most Wanted'
Sep 8, 2024, 03:45 PM
Apollo Quiboloy, the founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ and a self-proclaimed 'Appointed Son of God,' has been apprehended by Philippine authorities on September 8, ending a months-long manhunt. Quiboloy faces charges of sexual abuse of a minor, child abuse, and qualified trafficking in two separate courts in the Philippines, as well as similar charges in the United States. The arrest was confirmed by Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos. Quiboloy has close ties to former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and remains on the FBI’s 'Most Wanted' list. His legal counsel, Ferdinand Topacio, claims that Quiboloy surrendered voluntarily, countering earlier reports of his capture. Quiboloy has been transported to the Philippine National Police custodial facility in Camp Crame, Quezon City. Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla stated that Quiboloy will face charges in the Philippines first before any potential extradition to the United States. The arrest followed a violent stand-off and months of evading warrants in Davao City. Investigations also revealed Quiboloy's ownership of multimillion-peso properties.
