VisitPhiladelphia Eagles Release 26-Year-Old Linebacker Devin White for Financial Relief
Oct 8, 2024, 08:34 PM
The Philadelphia Eagles have released linebacker Devin White, who was signed to a one-year contract worth $4 million with $3.5 million guaranteed. White, a former All-Pro and Super Bowl champion at 26 years old, did not play a single snap for the Eagles this season. The decision to release him before the trade deadline allows the Eagles to gain some financial relief and cap savings. White had been beaten out for the starting linebacker position by Nakobe Dean and did not play special teams, which contributed to his inactivity. The Eagles' defensive coordinator, Vic Fangio, had named Dean the starter in Week 2. White is now free to sign with other teams immediately.
