Nov 12, 2024, 05:36 PM
The Pentagon has confirmed that U.S. forces repelled multiple Houthi attacks on American naval vessels. Yemen's Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for targeting the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea and two U.S. destroyers in the Red Sea. The attacks involved the use of drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles. The Pentagon reported that the Houthis launched at least eight drones, five ballistic missiles, and three cruise missiles against the destroyers while they were crossing the Bab al-Mandab Strait. The Houthis' military spokesperson stated that the operations lasted for eight hours. There is no confirmation of successful hits on the U.S. vessels. Separately, there were reports of American strikes on Houthi positions in the port city of Al-Hodeida in western Yemen.
