The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded Raytheon a $1.2 billion contract modification for the production of AIM-120C8 and AIM-120D3 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) under Lot 38. These missiles, which have a range of up to 160 km and use inertial guidance with active radar, will be produced for the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, and foreign military sales (FMS) customers, including Ukraine. The production is expected to reach 1,200 units per year by the end of the year. The FY24 unit cost for these missiles was budgeted at $942,000. Additionally, Raytheon is working with the Air Force to integrate the AIM-120 AMRAAM onto its first increment of loyal wingman drones, known as collaborative combat aircraft (CCA).
