VisitPatriots QB Drake Maye Leaves Game Against Jets After Helmet-to-Helmet Hit from Jamien Sherwood
Oct 27, 2024, 05:57 PM
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye left Sunday's game against the New York Jets after sustaining a head injury following an 18-yard helmet-to-helmet hit from Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood. Maye, who had earlier scored on a 17-yard rushing touchdown, remained in the game to finish the drive but was later evaluated in the blue medical tent and subsequently taken to the locker room. The quarterback had stayed down briefly after the hit, which was to the back of his head, but no penalty was called on the play despite Maye appearing to have given himself up on the scramble. The Patriots announced that Maye is questionable to return, undergoing a concussion evaluation. In his absence, veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett began warming up on the sideline.
