Paris 2024 organizers have issued an apology to Catholics and other Christian groups following backlash over a depiction of Leonardo Da Vinci's 'The Last Supper' during the Olympic Games opening ceremony. The controversial performance, which featured drag queens in a kitsch tableau, was criticized for being disrespectful to religious sentiments. Anne Descamps, Paris 2024 communications director, stated that there was never an intention to show disrespect and expressed regret for any offence caused.
