Palantir Technologies Inc. and Anduril Industries Inc., two major US defense technology companies, are in discussions with about a dozen tech firms to form a consortium aimed at bidding for US government defense contracts. The consortium, which may include SpaceX, OpenAI, Saronic, and Scale AI, is set to challenge the dominance of traditional defense contractors like Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and Boeing. The group plans to announce initial partnerships as early as January, with the goal of providing a new generation of defense contractors and leveraging cutting-edge technology to more efficiently supply the US government with advanced defense capabilities. This move comes as tech companies seek to capture a larger portion of the US government's $850 billion defense budget.
