VisitPakistan Demands Action from Afghanistan After Bannu Attack Leaves Eight Soldiers Dead
Jul 19, 2024, 06:45 AM
Pakistan has issued a strong démarche to Afghanistan following a deadly militant attack on Bannu Cantonment, which resulted in the deaths of eight soldiers in the northwest bordering Afghanistan. Pakistan accuses the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group, based in Afghanistan, and the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) of orchestrating the attack. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry summoned a senior Afghan diplomat to protest the incident and demanded that Afghanistan take decisive action against the perpetrators. Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its call for the Taliban to dismantle terror networks and hand over their leadership. Thousands of Pakistanis protested against a potential military operation to root out Afghan militants, arguing it would not achieve peace.
