Pakistan Bans PTM as TTP Supports Pashtun Jirga on October 11

Pakistan's Interior Ministry has officially designated the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) as a proscribed organization under the Anti-Terrorism Act on October 6, 2024, effectively banning the group. The government stated that the PTM has been outlawed because 'it has become a security threat in Pakistan.' The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also known as FAK, has expressed its support for the upcoming Pashtun Jirga organized by the PTM, scheduled for October 11, 2024. This development has raised concerns of escalating violence in the region.
