Jul 20, 2024, 05:58 AM
Amid violent protests in Bangladesh against job quotas, over 970 Indian students have been evacuated. The protests, which have resulted in 105 deaths and 2,500 injuries, prompted the imposition of a nationwide curfew and the deployment of the army to restore order. The Indian students, primarily from Meghalaya, were brought back to India through the Dawki Integrated Check Post. Some Nepali and Bhutanese students, as well as tourists, were also evacuated. The protests have caused significant disruptions, including an internet blackout and disrupted telephone services. Among those evacuated, 405 were students, including 80 from Meghalaya.
