Canada's Federal Court has rejected a motion by the government in Ottawa to dismiss a lawsuit calling for the halt of funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). The lawsuit, brought forward by advocates for Israel, argues that UNRWA has become closely associated with Hamas. This legal action is supported by the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) and Richard Marceau. The court's decision allows Canadians whose relatives were murdered by Hamas on October 7 to proceed with their lawsuit against the Canadian government's decision to resume funding for UNRWA. This ruling is seen as an important legal victory by the plaintiffs.
