VisitOrioles Acquire Pitcher Zach Eflin from Rays for Three Prospects in Major Trade
Jul 26, 2024, 08:47 PM
The Baltimore Orioles have acquired right-handed starter Zach Eflin from the Tampa Bay Rays in an in-division trade. The Rays will receive three minor leaguers from the Orioles: outfielder Matthew Etzel, right-handed pitcher Jackson Baumeister, and superutilityman Mac Horvath. Eflin, who had a strong 2023 season, is expected to bolster the Orioles' rotation. He is under contract for next season at $18 million. This trade is seen as a significant move for the Orioles, who did not have to trade a super-impact prospect to acquire one of the top starters available. Eflin has a 4.09 ERA, 1.1 BB/9, and 1.164 WHIP this season.
