Paul Di'Anno, the original lead singer of Iron Maiden, has passed away on Monday, 21st October 2024, at the age of 66 at his home in Wiltshire, England. Di'Anno was the vocalist on Iron Maiden's first two albums and played a significant role in setting the band on its path to success. He had been battling illness for several years. His death was announced by his family and record label, Conquest Music, although no cause of death has been disclosed. Tributes have poured in from fans, fellow musicians, and former bandmates, including current Iron Maiden members and former vocalist Blaze Bayley. Steve Harris, Iron Maiden's founding member, expressed his condolences, saying, "I was in touch with him only recently... rest in peace mate." Di'Anno was replaced by Bruce Dickinson after 1981 but remained an influential figure in the heavy metal genre.
