Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s ruling Fidesz party, allied with the Christian Democratic People's Party (KDNP), secured a leading position with 43.7% of the vote in Hungary's European Parliament and municipal elections. Despite winning, Fidesz experienced its worst ever result in a European Parliament election, losing two seats and gaining 8% less than in 2019. Early results indicated a new challenger took nearly 30% of the vote, marking a significant shift in the political landscape. Fidesz scored 44.6% in the European Parliament elections, the worst result since 2004.
