VisitOpenAI Unveils 'Canvas' for ChatGPT, Rivals Anthropic's Claude with Real-Time Coding Collaboration
Oct 3, 2024, 05:25 PM
OpenAI has launched 'Canvas', a new interface for ChatGPT designed to enhance writing and coding projects beyond simple chat interactions. Canvas allows users to collaborate with ChatGPT in real time through a side-by-side window, providing features such as inline code editing, code review, bug fixing, adding logs and comments, and porting code to different languages. The interface enables users to directly edit the model's output and receive targeted suggestions, transforming the AI chatbot into a dynamic tool for writing and coding. Canvas also includes self-demo features, with the GPT-4o model trained using synthetic data to enable rapid iteration between research and product teams. The feature is initially rolling out to ChatGPT Plus and Team users, with subscribers to Enterprise and Education tiers to follow in a few days. The launch positions OpenAI as a competitor to Anthropic's Claude Artifacts, signaling a move toward creating an AI operating system accessible via web browsers.
