OpenAI Launches Sora AI Video Generator; Pro Plan Offers 1080p Videos at $200/Month

OpenAI has launched Sora, its highly anticipated AI video generation tool, allowing users to create realistic videos from text prompts, images, and existing videos. Sora offers features such as text-to-video, image-to-video, video-to-video, and a storyboarding tool for precise video creation. The service is available to ChatGPT Plus subscribers at $20 per month and Pro subscribers at $200 per month. Plus subscribers receive 50 priority videos (1,000 credits) per month, with up to 720p resolution and 5-second durations, while Pro subscribers receive 500 priority videos (10,000 credits), unlimited relaxed generations, up to 1080p resolution, and 20-second durations. Video generations consume credits that vary based on resolution and duration, with credits resetting monthly. Pro subscribers can download videos without watermarks. Sora is launching today but will not be immediately available in the European Union or the United Kingdom due to regulatory issues. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated that Sora is critical to the company's roadmap toward artificial general intelligence.
