VisitOpen Source Robot Utility Models Achieve 90% Accuracy in Basic Tasks
Sep 9, 2024, 03:54 PM
A significant advancement in robotics has been demonstrated with the release of Robot Utility Models (RUMs). These models enable robots to perform basic tasks such as door opening, drawer opening, and object reorientation with approximately 90% accuracy in unseen environments without any additional training. The RUMs are fully open source, including models, data, code, and hardware. This development is expected to facilitate longer trajectory research by ensuring reliability in fundamental tasks, thereby reducing the need to address basic failures. Additionally, the Aloha 2 robot has showcased its ability to autonomously tie shoelaces and hang t-shirts, trained through 26,000 demonstrations over five tasks. RUMs have been tested successfully in new New York apartments.
