VisitOklahoma State Football to Use QR Codes on Helmets and Bags for NIL Fundraising, a First in College Football
Aug 20, 2024, 05:09 PM
Oklahoma State University is implementing a novel approach to support its football players' Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) earnings by incorporating QR codes on their helmets and travel bags. This initiative, believed to be the first of its kind in college football, will see players wearing helmets with QR codes that link to the team's general NIL fund. The QR codes, designed as 1.5 square inch decals featuring each player's name and number, will allow fans to contribute to the fund during games. Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy described the move as a 'revolutionary step forward' to enhance the team's competitive edge and provide financial support for every student-athlete on the roster. This decision comes amid Gundy's recent remarks urging player agents to stop requesting more money, emphasizing a focus on football and NIL opportunities.
