VisitOklahoma Hires 29-Year-Old Ben Arbuckle as Offensive Coordinator on Three-Year Contract
Dec 2, 2024, 10:44 PM
The University of Oklahoma has officially announced the hiring of Ben Arbuckle as its new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach on a three-year contract. Arbuckle, who is 29 years old, comes from Washington State where he served as the offensive coordinator, leading the team to a No. 9 ranking in scoring offense this year. His previous role at Western Kentucky saw him coach top-25 passing offenses, including back-to-back No. 1 units in 2021 and 2022. Oklahoma's head coach Brent Venables has signaled that there will be no other changes to the offensive staff, and Arbuckle's hiring is part of a strategy to rejuvenate the Sooners' offense with young, innovative coaching talent. Arbuckle will owe Washington State a buyout of nearly $470,000.
