VisitOil Tanker Prestige Falcon Capsizes Off Oman Coast, 13 Indians, 3 Sri Lankans Among 16 Missing

An oil tanker named Prestige Falcon, flagged under Comoros, capsized 25 nautical miles southeast of Ras Madrakah near the port town of Duqm, Oman, on July 14, 2024. The vessel had 16 crew members on board, including 13 Indians and three Sri Lankans, all of whom are reported missing. Oman's Maritime Security Center has initiated a search-and-rescue operation in coordination with Indian authorities. The Indian Navy has deployed the warship INS Teg and the P-8I maritime patrol aircraft to assist in the search efforts. The tanker was reportedly carrying a small amount of petroleum products from the UAE and was en route to Aden, Yemen. Despite challenging weather conditions, search operations are ongoing, with no survivors located so far. The incident was reported by the Omani state news agency on July 15, 2024.
