VisitOhtani Wins Third Unanimous MVP, First DH Ever, Leads Dodgers to World Series Title
Nov 22, 2024, 12:00 AM
Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani won his third career Most Valuable Player (MVP) award unanimously and his first in the National League, becoming the second player in MLB history to win MVP awards in both leagues. All three of his MVP awards have been unanimous, making him the only player in MLB history with more than one unanimous MVP. Ohtani is also the first player to win MVP as a primary designated hitter. In the 2024 season, he achieved a historic feat by hitting 54 home runs and stealing 59 bases, becoming the first player ever to record a 50/50 season. He led the National League with 54 home runs and 130 RBIs and helped the Dodgers win the World Series. Francisco Lindor of the New York Mets finished second in MVP voting. Ohtani became the 12th player in MLB history to win three or more MVP awards.
