VisitOasis Adds Two Wembley Shows Amid Ticket Pricing Backlash; Prices Soared from £148 to £355
Sep 4, 2024, 09:07 AM
The iconic British band Oasis has announced two additional Wembley Stadium shows for their 2025 reunion tour following a backlash over ticket prices. The initial ticket sales saw prices surge from £148 to £355 due to Ticketmaster's use of dynamic pricing, causing widespread frustration among fans. Some fans spent as much as £1,400 on tickets, and there have been 450 complaints about misleading pricing. The UK government and the European Commission are investigating the practice, with the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) calling for consumer protections. Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has promised to address the issue, and the band has distanced itself from the pricing strategy. Tickets for the new dates will be sold through a staggered, invitation-only ballot process to prioritize fans who were unsuccessful in the initial sale. Resale tickets have been spotted for as much as £180.
