NYPD chiefs are accused of steering department funds to Con Sofrito, a Bronx restaurant owned by the brother of former Police Commissioner Edward Caban. A whistleblower has claimed that two NYPD leaders funneled money to the restaurant, which has been linked to illegal activities including human trafficking, narcotic sales, and associations with criminals, mob associates, and politicians. Allegations also include that officers were ordered to plan events at the establishment. The Internal Affairs Bureau has been implicated in these activities as well. Additionally, a mob associate and business partner of the restaurant's owner allegedly threatened an individual.
