Sep 27, 2024, 04:25 PM
New York City Mayor Eric Adams pleaded not guilty on Friday to federal charges of bribery, wire fraud, accepting illegal campaign contributions, conspiracy, and campaign finance violations. The charges allege that Adams was involved in a corruption scheme, accepting bribes and illegal donations from Turkish nationals in exchange for lavish gifts and favorable treatment. The arraignment took place in a packed courtroom in Lower Manhattan after months of investigations, searches, and subpoenas. If convicted, Adams could face a lengthy prison sentence of up to 45 years. The Democrat is facing mounting calls from within his own party to resign.
