VisitNYC Mayor Adams Introduces 'Trash Revolution' with Official Wheelie Bins for 1-9 Units Starting November 12
Jul 8, 2024, 04:42 PM
New York City Mayor Eric Adams has introduced a new initiative to address the city's garbage problem by requiring buildings with 1 to 9 residential units to use official NYC wheelie bins for trash disposal. Starting November 12, these buildings will need to place their trash in the designated bins instead of using loose garbage bags. This initiative, referred to as the 'Trash Revolution,' aims to keep the streets cleaner and reduce the rat population by eliminating the piles of plastic bags that often clutter sidewalks. The announcement was made in Manhattan with Department of Sanitation Commissioner Jessica Tisch, who demonstrated the new bins at Gracie Mansion. The bins are expected to improve sanitation and public space usage in the city.
