VisitNvidia Becomes Major Shareholder in Sakana AI with ¥20 Billion Investment
Sep 4, 2024, 03:14 PM
Nvidia is expanding its role in the AI industry by investing in Tokyo-based startup Sakana AI, which has raised over $100 million (¥20 billion) in a Series A funding round. Nvidia will become a major shareholder and the biggest investor in Sakana AI, joining other investors such as NEA, Khosla Ventures, and Lux Capital. Sakana AI, co-founded by former Google researchers, aims to establish a world-class AI research lab in Japan, focusing on nature-inspired AI, data centers, and democratizing AI technology in the country. The funding will accelerate Sakana AI's research, development of AI models for Japanese speakers, and infrastructure projects, and build an AI community.
