VisitNOYB Files Complaints Against EU Parliament Over Data Breach Affecting 8,000 Staff
Aug 22, 2024, 06:30 AM
Data privacy advocates, including the Austrian advocacy group NOYB, have filed two complaints against the European Parliament with the EU privacy watchdog. The complaints allege that the European Parliament inadequately protected employees' personal data, resulting in a data breach that compromised the personal information of over 8,000 staff members. The breach reportedly exposed sensitive data such as passports, criminal records, residence documents, and marriage certificates. The complaints stem from a massive cyberattack that occurred earlier this year.
