VisitNovak Djokovic Teams Up With Andy Murray for Australian Open, Aiming for Record-Breaking 25th Grand Slam Title
Jan 9, 2025, 09:19 AM
Novak Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam winner, has enlisted former rival Andy Murray, who is 37 years old, as his coach for the upcoming Australian Open, marking a significant shift in their professional relationship. The duo, who faced each other 36 times during their careers, have been seen practicing together in Melbourne as Djokovic prepares for his bid to win a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title. Murray, who retired from professional tennis last year, initially expressed reluctance towards coaching but was persuaded by Djokovic. Their partnership is set to last until the end of the Australian Open, after which they will reassess their collaboration. Murray's first match in the coaching box will be when Djokovic faces young American Nishesh Basavareddy in the first round. Murray's wife, Kim, was supportive of the move, viewing it as a unique opportunity for her husband.
