North Korea test-fired strategic cruise missiles on Saturday, January 25, supervised by leader Kim Jong Un, according to state media KCNA. The missiles, launched from a submarine, flew along elliptical and figure-eight flight paths, covering a distance of 1,500 kilometers over a duration of approximately 7,507 to 7,511 seconds, and hit their targets precisely. Kim Jong Un described the test as an 'important weapon system' and said that tools of war deterrence are being perfected. This marks North Korea's third missile test in January and the first since President Donald Trump's return to office. In a statement, North Korea vowed the toughest counteraction against the United States, declaring that as long as the US denies its sovereignty, it will respond with 'ultra-tough counteraction'. The test is part of North Korea's efforts to bolster its war deterrence measures amid escalated US-South Korean military drills.
