North Korea has fired multiple ballistic missiles toward the Sea of Japan, also known as the East Sea, according to South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff and Japanese government officials. The missiles, believed to be short-range ballistic missiles, were launched just hours before U.S. voters headed to the polls in a tightly contested presidential election. This latest missile launch follows North Korea's recent test of a new intercontinental ballistic missile. The Japanese Defense Ministry reported that at least seven missiles were launched, reaching an altitude of about 100 km and a range of approximately 400 km.
