VisitNorth Korea Blows Up Inter-Korean Roads; South Korea Fires Warning Shots
Oct 15, 2024, 03:35 AM
North Korea has blown up parts of inter-Korean roads connecting it to South Korea, according to South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff. The explosions targeted sections of the Gyeongui and Donghae lines north of the Military Demarcation Line. The roads, which were no longer in use, were destroyed after Pyongyang had vowed to sever all inter-Korean roads and railways. The action follows escalating tensions after North Korea accused South Korea of sending drones over Pyongyang. South Korea's military responded by firing shots south of the MDL and has heightened surveillance and readiness. This marks a significant deterioration in relations between the two countries.
