Nobuyo Ōyama, the voice actress best known for voicing the titular character in the popular Japanese anime series 'Doraemon,' has passed away at the age of 90. Ōyama voiced Doraemon from 1979 to 2005, a span of 26 years, and her portrayal was so iconic that Doraemon creator Fujiko F. Fujio called her the character’s quintessential voice. She officially retired in 2015 after suffering the onset of dementia. Ōyama passed away from old age last month. Her death marks the end of an era for fans of the beloved robot cat, a character that has been a staple in Japanese culture for decades.
