VisitNintendo Forces Shutdown of Ryujinx Switch Emulator Amid Zelda Leaks
Oct 1, 2024, 09:28 PM
Ryujinx, a popular open-source Nintendo Switch emulator, has ceased development following pressure from Nintendo of America. The lead developer was reportedly pressured into shutting down the project, resulting in the removal of all downloads and GitHub repositories. This move comes amid Nintendo's intensified crackdown on emulator channels and follows the shutdown of another major Switch emulator, Yuzu, earlier this year. Ryujinx was being tested for Android as third-party handhelds flooded the market. The shutdown also follows recent Zelda leaks. Nintendo has declined to comment directly but referred inquiries to an ESA spokesperson, who provided a general statement about copyright piracy. Ryujinx was the remaining juggernaut in Switch emulation, and Nintendo reportedly offered an agreement to stop the project.
