VisitNine Bodies, Including Six Women, Found in Nairobi's Mukuru Slums Amid Tensions
Jul 13, 2024, 02:00 AM
A gruesome discovery has shocked the residents of Mukuru slums in Nairobi, where multiple bodies have been retrieved from a quarry and dumpsite. On July 12, authorities found six mutilated female bodies at Mukuru Kwa Njenga, all killed in a similar manner and stuffed in sacks. In total, nine bodies were retrieved from the dumpsite near the Kware police station. Eyewitnesses and rights groups reported at least eight bodies found in the quarry. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has commenced a probe to identify the bodies and determine the perpetrators. The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has given police 21 days to submit their findings. The discovery comes amid ongoing tensions following last month's anti-government protests, and Kenya's police watchdog is investigating potential police involvement in the incident.
