Nigeria's women's basketball team, D'Tigress, made history by becoming the first African team, male or female, to reach the Olympic quarterfinals. They achieved this milestone with a 79-70 victory over Canada at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The team showed remarkable resilience, overcoming a four-point deficit at halftime and at one point leading by as much as 16 to secure the win. Ezinna Kalu led the team with 21 points. D'Tigress went 2-1 in the group stage and also defeated Australia 75-62. This historic achievement marks the best showing ever for the Nigerian women's basketball team in the Olympics.
