Reggaeton star Nicky Jam has withdrawn his endorsement of former President Donald Trump following derogatory comments about Puerto Rico made at a recent Trump rally by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe. The Puerto Rican-Dominican artist, who appeared on stage with Trump in Las Vegas last month, announced his decision in an Instagram video to his 43.5 million followers, stating that 'Puerto Rico deserves respect.' Nicky Jam explained that while he initially supported Trump for economic reasons, he could not tolerate disrespect toward his homeland. 'I never thought a month later a comedian would speak bad about my country,' he said. The controversy stems from Hinchcliffe's comments at a Madison Square Garden rally, where he referred to Puerto Rico as an 'island of garbage.'
