VisitNHTSA Warns Tesla Over Misleading FSD Claims on Social Media
Nov 9, 2024, 12:00 AM
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has raised concerns about Tesla's social media posts promoting its Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature. These posts suggest that Tesla vehicles can operate autonomously, misleading the public into believing they are robotaxis. However, the NHTSA has clarified that Tesla's vehicles require human supervision, contradicting the company's public statements and the instructions provided in owners manuals and briefings. The agency has asked Tesla to revisit its communications to ensure consistency with user instructions and to clarify the limitations of the FSD technology in a May email.
