VisitNHTSA Investigates Amazon's Zoox Robotaxi SUVs After Two Rear-End Crashes

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has initiated a preliminary evaluation into Amazon-owned self-driving robotaxi unit, Zoox, following two incidents where its autonomous SUVs unexpectedly braked and were rear-ended by motorcyclists. The investigation covers approximately 500 Zoox vehicles. The collisions, which involved Toyota Highlander robotaxis equipped with Zoox technology, resulted in minor injuries. The vehicles were operating in autonomous mode at the time of the crashes.
