NHTSA Investigates Alphabet's Waymo After 22 Incidents, Including 17 Collisions

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has initiated an investigation into Alphabet's Waymo following reports of 22 incidents involving its self-driving vehicles. These incidents include 17 collisions and other traffic violations such as entering construction sites, blocking traffic, and driving in the wrong lane. The probe covers an estimated 444 Waymo vehicles. The investigation aims to evaluate the performance of Waymo's autonomous driving system, including its unexpected behavior, and its response to typical traffic situations.
